Born in the Wild
Our Story
GEARHOLM began in a small timber-framed cabin in the North Cascades. We weren't looking to start a business; we were looking for gear that wouldn't fail when the mist turned to sleet and the trail vanished into boulder fields.
Our first pack was hand-sewn from salvaged sailcloth and reinforced with heavy-duty thread. It was heavy, it was stiff, but it was indestructible. That ethos—rugged reliability above all else—remains our North Star today.
We believe that equipment should be an extension of the explorer. It should be quiet, functional, and built to last generations, not seasons. Every stitch we place is a promise to the person carrying it into the unknown.
The Ethical Path
We are stewards of the places we explore. Our commitment to sustainability isn't a marketing slogan—it's a technical requirement.
Carbon Neutral 2026
By 2026, our entire supply chain—from the raw fleece to the final delivery van—will be carbon neutral through rigorous reduction and local reforestation.
Recycled Materials
94% of our synthetic fabrics are derived from post-consumer recycled plastics. We give a second life to materials that would otherwise clog our oceans.
Fair Trade Certified
Our partner factories provide living wages and safe conditions. We visit every site annually to ensure our human-first standards are exceeded.
“We don't build gear for tourists. We build for the people who realize that the destination is just a point on a map, but the expedition is where life happens.”
— Elias & Sarah Thorne, Founders
